Tactile paving (originally known as offset blister paving) was first developed in Japan by Seiichi Miyake in 1965. It quickly spread around the world.

Uses:
Tram stops
Train station platforms
Tube platforms
Purpose:
To warn visually impaired people of the edge of the platform
Show limitations of a tram stop
