Preston Level Crossing

Ribble Steam Railway Museum Strand Road level crossing renewal.

XYZ Rail & Civils were appointed Principal Contractor to carry out the installation of a road crossing across the railway track on Ribble Steam Railways private system at Strand Road in Preston.

Client: XYZ Rail and Civils working for their client the Ribble Steam Museum.
Job: Road renewal and line marking.
Our Involvement

Serfis Construction and engineering ltd were invited to undertake the road renewal either side of the newly installed Strail manufactured crossing (125mm base & 75mm surface course) and undertake the line marking required prior to road closure being given up.

Problems Faced / Solutions Offered

Our client had requested additional works in the resurfacing of footpath alterations requested by the local authority which we were able to amalgamate in with the works package with no impact on the project’s tight deadline. The client had picked up on some areas of deteriorating surface course within the cycle route, which was brought to our attention, we immediately acted in organising a suitable planer to remove the deteriorating area and made sure we were able to incorporate the extra area in with the works again with no impact on the project’s delivery.

Summary

The works were completed on time, finished to standard we pride ourselves on delivering on any job we undertake. This was a project which was very much in the public eye with the disruption of a heavily used road being closed for the works we made sure we kept to program without compromising the quality delivered.
